The Farm Stand Associate will help operate CFHE's seasonal farm stands that bring fresh, affordable produce to neighborhoods that may otherwise lack access. This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about food justice, enjoy engaging with the public, and want to be part of a mission-driven initiative that centers health, sustainability, and community connection.

Roles and Responsibilities
Role and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer the Farm Stand Associate has the following responsibilities and duties:
Farmers Stand
Assist in coordinating market stops and schedules with community partners.
Attend farmers markets and coordinate onsite market operations such as set up, stocking and cleaning up.
Monitor produce preferences among clients to provide insight for stocking.
Communicate with farmers and produce distributors to schedule produce pickups.
Conduct surveys with market participants.
Field requests from community partners for market pop ups at events.
Nurture relationships with supply carriers
Set up and break down the farm stand, including tents, tables, and signage.
Receive, inspect, and restock produce and other goods throughout the day.
Ensure all items are neatly displayed, labeled, and handled with care.
Operate a point-of-sale (POS) system or cash register to process sales.
Handle cash, credit, EBT/SNAP, and incentive vouchers (e.g., Healthy Bucks, WIC).
Accurately track sales and assist with daily reporting and inventory.
Follow food safety guidelines and handling protocols.
Keep the stand clean, organized, and free of hazards.
Report any incidents, damaged goods, or supply shortages to the manager.
Work collaboratively with other associates and program staff.
Support unloading, packing, and storage of farm stand materials.
Community Outreach and Customer Service
Greet and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Answer questions about produce, seasonal offerings, and farm stand missions.
Educate customers on healthy food choices and locally grown produce.
Participate in occasional farm stand events, workshops, or outreach activities.
Nurture relationships with supply carriers.
Develop mutually beneficial community partnerships.
Assist in community outreach and raising awareness about all CFHE programs with potential clients, community partners, supporters, and donors.
Attend community events to assist in raising awareness and increase CFHE network.
Skills and Qualifications:
Friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic about local food and community health.
3+ years experience in retail, customer service, or food handling preferred.
Able to lift up to 40 lbs and stand for extended periods.
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Strong communication and basic math skills.
Bilingual (especially Spanish or another locally spoken language) is a plus.
3+ years experience conducting community outreach, assisting with community based initiatives, and supporting community development initiatives.
Interest in food justice, health equity, wellness, and food insecurity
Excellent oral, time management and written communication skills
Excellent Time Management skills
Strong attention to detail and multitasking capabilities

Job Type: Part-time, in person
Pay: $25hr/25 hrs/wk
Schedule: Monday to Friday, some weekends
Travel: 50% [must have reliable transportation]
