Maria’s Story

My name is Maria. I am a 50-year-old mom of 4, each with a disability, a widow, and I have an autoimmune disease.

My story starts when Coalition Equity came to my community project apartment building and offered the residents that needed food, food twice a week. At that time, we were struggling because of the pandemic, and our income could not fit into our family budget. So I said to myself and my 4 children, "let's join this food coalition drive, it's free meals that can help us."

Also, it was special because, for our budget, meals were always hard. So my children agreed, and I signed up for my family during a difficult time.

Lisa helped my family do all the paperwork and to get approved. It was a joy, and we were happy to receive the meals every day or twice a week.

The food they deliver is fresh meals. It was a plus during that time to get fresh vegetables especially during the economic crisis when prices have gone up at the grocery store and all over.

It was a blessing to get our meals from Coalition Equity. Thank you so much. We all appreciate the help you did for our family. God bless you all.
